Cookies

How cookies and similar technologies help The Dugout run on the marketing site and in the browser game — what is essential, what is optional, and how you can stay in control.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

This Cookies notice explains how The Dugout (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our marketing website or play the game in your browser. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of use. A dedicated in-product cookie preference UI is not part of this design comp.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a site. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixels that remember a preference, keep you signed in, or help us understand how the product is used. Some last only for a session; others persist until they expire or you clear them.

2. Essential cookies

These are required for The Dugout to work securely. Without them, sign-in, account continuity, and basic site functions may fail. We do not use essential cookies for advertising.

  • Authentication & session — keep you signed in and protect against cross-site request forgery where applicable.
  • Load balancing & security — route traffic and help detect abuse or automated attacks.
  • Save continuity — support restoring club and season progress across browser sessions when you are logged in.

3. Preference cookies

Preference cookies remember choices you make so the experience feels consistent next time you visit. They are not required for the game to run, but turning them off may reset settings each visit.

  • Theme — light or dark appearance when you use the theme toggle.
  • UI locale / display — language or layout preferences if we offer them.
  • Dismissed notices — remembering that you closed a banner so it does not reappear every load.

4. Analytics cookies (optional)

Where allowed by law and your choices, we may use analytics cookies or similar tools to understand traffic, feature usage, and performance — for example which pages are read, how often the Play CTA is used, and where the game crashes. These help us improve The Dugout; they are not used to sell advertising profiles. Optional analytics are only set when consent is required and given, or where another lawful basis applies under final counsel review.

5. Managing cookies and browser controls

You can control cookies through your browser settings: block all, block third-party only, or clear existing cookies and site data. Most browsers also offer private or incognito modes that limit persistence. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or break the game. For more on how we handle personal data tied to these technologies, see our Privacy Policy.

  • Use your browser’s site-settings or privacy panel to clear cookies for thedugout domains.
  • Revoke optional analytics where a consent tool is available in a future release.
  • Contact us if you need help exercising privacy rights related to cookie-derived data.

6. Updates and contact

We may update this notice when our practices or tools change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material updates will be highlighted where practical. Continued use of the site or game after an update means you acknowledge the revised notice, subject to any consent requirements that apply in your region.
